Bridge Domain (BD)

A Cisco ACI Layer 2 forwarding construct, associated with a VRF, that defines a flood domain and holds subnet gateways.

Definition

Bridge domains contain one or more subnets acting as distributed anycast gateways on all leaves. Settings control unknown unicast (hardware proxy or flood), ARP flooding and unicast routing. Multiple EPGs can share one BD.

Example

BD_Web with subnet 10.1.1.1/24 is linked to VRF Prod and used by the Web EPG.

Exam tip

One BD belongs to exactly one VRF; EPGs map to one BD.
