Admission Control

A vSphere HA policy that reserves cluster capacity so VMs can be restarted after host failures.

Definition

Policies include cluster resource percentage, slot policy and dedicated failover hosts. Admission control prevents powering on VMs that would violate the failover capacity.

Example

Reserving 25 percent CPU and memory in a four-node cluster tolerates one host failure.

Exam tip

If a VM will not power on in an HA cluster, admission control may be blocking it.
