Sector Antenna

A high-gain antenna covering a pie-slice sector, often grouped to form 360-degree coverage.

Definition

Sector antennas provide coverage for a defined angle such as 60, 90, or 120 degrees. Several sectors on a tower combine for full coverage with less interference than one omni. They are common in cellular and outdoor Wi-Fi.

Example

Three 120-degree sector antennas on a cell tower.

Exam tip

Sectorization increases capacity by reusing channels in different directions.
