Proof of Concept (PoC)

A demonstration that a vulnerability is real and exploitable, used to validate findings and prioritize remediation.

Definition

In testing reports, a PoC shows the minimal steps or evidence needed to confirm impact without causing damage. Public PoC availability for a CVE increases exploitation likelihood and is factored into prioritization (for example in EPSS and CVSS Exploit Maturity).

Example

A report includes screenshots showing that a test account could read another test account's records.

Exam tip

Public PoC code raises urgency; reports should demonstrate impact safely.
