Multi-Link Operation (MLO)

Wi-Fi 7 feature allowing a device to use multiple bands or channels simultaneously as one logical link.

Definition

MLO lets Multi-Link Devices (MLDs) send and receive across links such as 5 GHz and 6 GHz for higher throughput, lower latency, and resilience. Modes include multi-link single radio (MLSR), enhanced MLSR, and simultaneous transmit and receive (STR). Security requires WPA3 with PMF.

Example

A Wi-Fi 7 phone sends latency-sensitive traffic on whichever of two links is idle first.

Exam tip

MLO is Wi-Fi 7's key latency and reliability feature.
