HSRP Interface Tracking

Reducing an HSRP router's priority when a tracked interface or object fails so the standby router can take over.

Definition

The track decrement (default 10) should drop priority below the peer's. The standby must have preemption enabled to take over. Tracking objects can follow IP SLA results for upstream reachability.

Example

standby 1 track 1 decrement 20

Exam tip

If the decrement does not push priority below the peer, failover never occurs.
