High Availability Stateful Switchover (HA SSO)

Controller redundancy where a standby WLC maintains AP and client state for subsecond failover.

Definition

In 9800 HA SSO, active and standby controllers synchronize configuration, AP, and client state over a redundancy port. On failure, APs and clients remain connected. N+1 redundancy is an alternative where APs rejoin a backup controller.

Exam tip

SSO preserves client sessions; N+1 forces APs to rejoin.
