Frame Aggregation

Combining multiple frames into a single transmission to reduce overhead.

Definition

802.11n introduced A-MSDU and A-MPDU aggregation, which reduce per-frame preamble, interframe space, and acknowledgment overhead. Aggregation is essential to achieve high throughput at high data rates. A-MPDU is generally more resilient than A-MSDU.

Exam tip

Aggregation increases efficiency; block ACK acknowledges multiple frames.
