FN-DSA

FFT over NTRU-Lattice-Based Digital Signature Algorithm, NIST's Falcon-based post-quantum signature standard (FIPS 206).

Definition

FN-DSA, derived from Falcon, offers much smaller signatures than ML-DSA, which suits bandwidth-constrained uses such as certificates. Its implementation is complex because it relies on floating-point Gaussian sampling that must resist side channels. NIST released it as FIPS 206 following the first three PQC standards.

Example

A certificate-heavy protocol evaluates FN-DSA-512 to keep signature sizes under 1 KB.

Exam tip

Falcon = FN-DSA = compact lattice signatures with tricky implementation.
