CREATE TABLE Statement

The DDL statement that defines a new table with its columns, data types and constraints.

Definition

CREATE TABLE specifies each column's name, type, nullability and defaults, plus table-level constraints such as primary and foreign keys. Vendors add options such as storage, partitioning, clustering (Snowflake CLUSTER BY) or table format (USING DELTA).

Example

CREATE TABLE Products (ProductID INT PRIMARY KEY, Name VARCHAR(100) NOT NULL, Price DECIMAL(10,2));

Exam tip

In Snowflake, primary and foreign key constraints on standard tables are informational only; only NOT NULL is enforced.
