Class-Based Weighted Fair Queuing (CBWFQ)

A queuing method that guarantees minimum bandwidth to user-defined traffic classes during congestion.

Definition

Each class gets a queue with a bandwidth or bandwidth percent guarantee; unused bandwidth is shared. CBWFQ alone does not provide strict priority, so voice still suffers delay. Adding a priority class turns it into LLQ.

Example

class BUSINESS / bandwidth percent 30

Exam tip

CBWFQ = minimum guarantee; LLQ = CBWFQ plus strict priority queue.
