Blind Server-Side Request Forgery

SSRF in which the attacker cannot see the response but can still make the server send requests.

Definition

Blind SSRF can be detected via out-of-band interactions such as DNS lookups to a tester-controlled domain. It can still be used to reach internal services or trigger actions. Mitigations are the same as for SSRF.

Example

A webhook URL field causes the server to make a DNS lookup that shows up in the tester's logs.

Exam tip

No visible response does not mean no risk.
