Binary Phase Shift Keying (BPSK)

PSK using two phase states to carry 1 bit per symbol.

Definition

BPSK is the most robust Wi-Fi modulation and is used for the lowest OFDM rates (6 and 9 Mbps) and MCS 0. It needs very low SNR. It was also used by 802.11 DSSS at 1 Mbps (DBPSK).

Example

MCS 0 uses BPSK with 1/2 coding.

Exam tip

MCS 0 = BPSK 1/2, the most robust rate.
