Amplitude Shift Keying (ASK)

Modulation that represents data by changing the carrier's amplitude.

Definition

ASK varies signal strength to represent bits. It is susceptible to noise and interference, which also affect amplitude. It is used in combination with phase changes in QAM.

Exam tip

ASK alone is noise-sensitive; QAM combines ASK and PSK.
