Course overview
thinQtank® Learning is offering a unique instructor-led training camp that gives network professionals the knowledge and skills needed to design, implement and maintain Microsoft Azure networking solutions — virtual networks and the address plan underneath them, hybrid connectivity by VPN and ExpressRoute, load balancing HTTP and non-HTTP traffic, private access to Azure services, network security, and the monitoring that tells you which of those has broken.
This course also helps students prepare to take the Microsoft AZ-700 exam, which awards the Microsoft Certified: Azure Network Engineer Associate certification. THIS IS NOT AN ENTRY-LEVEL COURSE — Microsoft expects working experience administering Azure compute, storage and networking resources before you sit it.

- Configure Azure Front Door, including caching, TLS termination and traffic acceleration
- Plan and create private endpoints, Private Link services and service endpoints
- Implement network security groups and application security groups correctly
- Design and deploy Azure Firewall, Firewall Manager policies and a secured virtual hub
- Configure a web application firewall on Azure Front Door and on Application Gateway
- Monitor and troubleshoot with Network Watcher, Azure Monitor and virtual network flow logs
The exam
AZ-700100minutes to complete
700to pass, of 1
- Exam AZ-700 — awards Microsoft Certified: Azure Network Engineer Associate
- Skills measured, weighted as RANGES rather than fixed percentages, which is how Microsoft publishes them: Design and implement core networking infrastructure 25-30%, Design implement and manage connectivity services 20-25%, Design and implement application delivery services 15-20%, Design and implement Azure network security services 15-20%, Design and implement private access to Azure services 10-15%
- Skills measured were last revised on 27 July 2026, and this course is built on that revision
- Microsoft does not publish the number of questions on its exams, so we do not quote one
- TWELVE MONTHS, THEN A FREE RENEWAL. Microsoft role-based certifications expire after a year and are renewed at no cost by passing an online assessment on Microsoft Learn. Budget the annual renewal into your plan — it costs nothing, but it is not automatic
- AZ-700 Voucher — an exam voucher is available through thinQtank for $165 USD. Ask when you register and we will add it to your enrollment
Who it's for, and what you need first
Target Audience
- Network engineers taking their existing skills into Azure
- Azure administrators whose remit has grown to include the network
- Cloud and infrastructure engineers responsible for hybrid connectivity
- Architects who must design ExpressRoute, Virtual WAN or private access properly
- Anyone holding AZ-104 and specializing next
- Service members, veterans and military spouses using AF COOL, Army Credentialing Assistance, MyCAA or VET TEC 2.0
Prerequisites
- THIS IS NOT AN ENTRY-LEVEL COURSE. Microsoft expects working experience administering Azure compute, storage and networking resources
- Solid networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, name resolution and address management
- Hands-on experience with VPNs, firewalls and encryption technologies
- Experience with on-premises virtualization — virtual machines, virtual networking, virtual hard disks
- Familiarity with software-defined networking and with hybrid connectivity methods
- Understanding of resilience, high availability, disaster recovery and restore operations
