Course overview

thinQtank® Learning is offering a unique instructor-led training camp that gives students the knowledge and skills needed to implement, manage and monitor an Azure environment — identities and governance, storage, compute, virtual networking, and the monitoring and backup that tell you whether any of it is still healthy.

This course also helps students prepare to take the Microsoft AZ-104 exam, which awards the Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate certification. It is the credential most Azure job postings ask for by name, and the foundation under the specialist tracks — AZ-700 for networking, AZ-500 for security and AZ-305 for architecture all assume it.

The certification exam

The exam this class prepares you for.

Exam codeAZ-104
  • Exam AZ-104 — awards Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
  • One hundred minutes to complete
  • Passing score of 700 on a scale of 1 to 1,000
  • Skills measured, weighted as RANGES rather than fixed percentages, which is how Microsoft publishes them: Manage Azure identities and governance 20-25%, Deploy and manage Azure compute resources 20-25%, Implement and manage storage 15-20%, Implement and manage virtual networking 15-20%, Monitor and maintain Azure resources 10-15%
  • Skills measured were last revised on 17 April 2026, and this course is built on that revision
  • Microsoft does not publish the number of questions on its exams, so we do not quote one
  • TWELVE MONTHS, THEN A FREE RENEWAL. Microsoft role-based certifications expire after a year and are renewed at no cost by passing an online assessment on Microsoft Learn. Budget the annual renewal into your plan — it costs nothing, but it is not automatic

DoD 8140 and college credit

What this certification counts for with the Department of Defense, and toward a degree.

DoD 8140 / 8570 This certification is not on the DoD 8570 baseline list. Under DoD 8140, a degree or qualifying training can also meet the requirement. See which certifications qualify in the DoD Workforce Navigator.
College credit Pass the exam and these universities will count it toward a degree. This is what each school publishes about its own transfer policy; the registrar makes the final call.
3credits UMGC
Accepted WGU amount not published

Most schools only count IT certifications earned in the last five years, and several will not award transfer credit once you have enrolled. Get your evaluation done first.
