Course overview
thinQtank® Learning is offering a unique instructor-led training camp that gives students the knowledge and skills needed to start a cloud security career from nothing — what the cloud actually is and what changes when your systems live in someone else’s data center, then identity and access, data protection and encryption, network and application security, monitoring and incident response, risk assessment, and the compliance and governance that binds it all together.
This course also helps students prepare to take the EC-Council Cloud Security Essentials exam, 112-54. EC-Council requires NO prior cybersecurity knowledge and NO IT work experience, and we build the course to that. It finishes with a capstone project that puts all eight modules together.

What you'll be able to do
15 objectives- Explain cloud computing service and deployment models, and what each one changes
- Understand shared responsibility, and where your obligations actually begin
- Apply cloud security fundamentals and the vocabulary the field uses
- Configure identity and access management in a cloud environment
- Apply least privilege, roles and federation without breaking the users
- Protect data at rest and in transit with the right encryption for the case
- Manage keys and secrets properly rather than storing them in the repository
- Secure cloud networking: segmentation, security groups and traffic control
- Apply application security to workloads you did not write
- Set up cloud security monitoring, and know what a useful alert looks like
- Respond to a cloud security incident through its stages
- Assess and prioritize cloud security risk, and manage it over time rather than at a point in time
- Apply cloud compliance and governance frameworks
- Understand audit, evidence and reporting obligations in a cloud tenant
- Complete a capstone project that ties the eight modules into one piece of work
The exam
- Exam 112-54 — EC-Council Cloud Security Essentials (CSE)
- Seventy-five multiple-choice questions
- Two hours to complete
- THE PASSING MARK MOVES. EC-Council uses several forms of this exam and sets a cut score for each one, ranging from 60% to 78%. There is no single published passing number, so prepare for the top of that range — you do not find out which form you have until you sit it
- Proctored, and delivered through the EC-Council exam center channel
- No prerequisites — no prior cybersecurity knowledge and no IT work experience is required
- Part of the EC-Council Essentials Series
- APPROVED BY FOUR STATE DEPARTMENTS OF EDUCATION — Virginia, Florida under CAPE, Ohio, and Arkansas. That matters for school, district and workforce funding
