DoD 8140 and college credit

What this certification counts for with the Department of Defense, and toward a degree.

DoD 8140 / 8570 CCNP Security qualifies for 1 of the 14 DoD workforce category, and also covers IAT Level II, IAT Level I because higher IAT and IAM levels satisfy lower ones.
Information Assurance Technical, Level III IAT Level III
5–10 years typicalGS-12 to GS-13
Senior system administrator · Network security engineer · Systems engineer · Technical lead on an enclave
Typically performs (DCWF): 461 Systems Security Analyst; 652 Security Architect; 633 System Security Engineer

DoD 8570 was replaced by DoD 8140 work roles (contractors since February 2026), but job postings still use these categories. DoD publishes no crosswalk between the two; the work roles shown are what this population typically performs, not an official mapping. Experience figures are typical, not requirements.

College credit Pass the exam and these universities will count it toward a degree. This is what each school publishes about its own transfer policy; the registrar makes the final call.
Accepted Purdue Global amount not published
3credits Davenport

Most schools only count IT certifications earned in the last three to five years (some require them to be current), and several will not award transfer credit once you have enrolled. Get your evaluation done first.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the new SCOR v2.0?
Yes. SCOR v2.0 replaced v1.1 on 27 August 2026. A v1.1 pass still counts toward CCNP Security with any current concentration.
What else do I need for CCNP Security?
One concentration: SNCF (300-710), SISE (300-715), SSCA (300-740) or SDSI (300-745), all of which we teach. Our SCOR + SISE package covers both exams in nine days.
What happened to the VPN concentration?
Cisco retired the standalone VPN, email and web concentrations in August 2026. VPN topics now sit in SCOR and SNCF.
What does it cost?
The standard price is $4,050; exam voucher available — ask us to add it to your registration. Military students using AF COOL, Army CA, MyCAA or VET TEC 2.0 pay $1,500, and thinQflex lets you name your own price and monthly payment.
