Course overview
thinQtank® Learning is offering a unique instructor-led training camp that gives students the knowledge and skills needed to automate the work that IT operations teams still do by hand. Students write and read automation code, describe infrastructure as code and stand it up repeatably, drive configuration management and REST APIs, and build the pipelines that test, package and release a change safely. Students leave having built a working delivery pipeline end to end, which is the part of this work no book teaches.
This course also helps students prepare to take the CompTIA AutoOps+ (AT0-001) exam — the vendor-neutral automation credential CompTIA launched in June 2026 for the operations professionals who are being asked to work like engineers.

What you'll be able to do
10 objectives- Read, write and debug automation code, and choose the right data structures, logic and error handling for an operational task
- Work with YAML, JSON and templating the way real tooling consumes them, and keep secrets out of the files that describe your systems
- Use version control properly — branching, review, merge and rollback — as the record of every infrastructure change
- Describe infrastructure as code and provision it repeatably, so an environment can be rebuilt rather than repaired
- Manage configuration at scale and keep systems in their declared state instead of drifting away from it
- Integrate with REST APIs: authentication, request and response handling, pagination, rate limits and failure
- Build continuous integration pipelines that build, test and gate a change before anyone sees it
- Automate testing, linting, static analysis and dependency and container scanning inside the pipeline
- Release with deployment strategies that can be undone — blue-green, canary and rolling — and know when each one fits
- Instrument what you ship: logging, metrics, alerting and the feedback loop that tells you a release went wrong before a customer does

Who it's for, and what you need first
Target Audience
- Systems, cloud and network administrators being asked to automate what they currently do by hand
- Network operations specialists and infrastructure engineers
- Junior to mid-level DevOps professionals who want the vendor-neutral credential behind the work
- Administrators moving toward DevOps engineer, automation engineer, platform engineer or SRE roles
- Service members, veterans and military spouses using AF COOL, Army Credentialing Assistance, MyCAA or VET TEC 2.0
Prerequisites
- CompTIA Network+, Linux+, Cloud+ or Server+, or equivalent knowledge
- Comfortable administering Linux from the command line, and familiar with how Windows systems are managed
- Working understanding of TCP/IP networking and of how cloud resources are provisioned
- Some exposure to a scripting language — Python, Bash or PowerShell — is helpful but not assumed
- CompTIA recommends two to three years in a core IT operations role. That is a recommendation, not a bar to entry — this camp is built to take a capable administrator there
