Free Oracle Cloud Certifications in 2026: What's Really Free, and What the Flyer Got Wrong
You may have seen a flyer going around this week announcing free Oracle cloud certifications. The good news is real: Oracle has made a big part of its 2026 certification lineup free, including, for the first time, an Associate-level architect credential. But a few details on that flyer are off, and if you're going to spend your evenings studying, you deserve the accurate picture. So here it is, checked against Oracle's own announcement.
$0Every Foundations course and exam 4Free certs worth starting with 5Certification tracks in 2026 1stFree Associate-level architect certThe headline: Oracle kept every Foundations-level course and certification free, and it added the OCI Architect Associate course and exam to the free list. That's a real, design-level cloud credential at no cost. Professional-level exams still carry a fee.
What's freeThe four certifications to know
Oracle now organizes its certifications into five tracks: OCI, Multicloud, AI, Agentic AI and Database. These are the four free ones most of our students should look at first.
FREE FoundationsOCI Foundations Associate
The starting point for Oracle Cloud. Regions and availability domains, core compute, networking and storage, identity and security, and pricing. It's conceptual, with no prerequisites and no hands-on experience required. The current exam is the 2026 version, 1Z0-1085-26.
FREE FoundationsOCI AI Foundations Associate
Foundational knowledge of AI, machine learning and generative AI, and the services Oracle offers for them on OCI. A good entry point if you're being asked to "understand AI" at work.
NEW · FREE FoundationsAgentic AI Foundations Associate
New for 2026. The basics of AI agents: what they are, the common agentic patterns, and the core concepts behind them. Agents are where a lot of enterprise AI spending is heading, so this one is timely.
NOW FREE AssociateOCI Architect Associate
The big one. Design-level skills on OCI's core building blocks: identity, networking, compute and storage. Until this year it was a paid exam. Note the name change too: it's now simply the OCI Architect Associate, without the year in the title.
Also on Oracle's 2026 list: a full Multicloud track (Oracle Database@AWS, @Azure and @Google Cloud Architect Professional), a new Multicloud Foundations certification planned for September, and a new Exadata Database Service professional certification planned for October.
Setting the record straightWhat the flyer got wrong
Tap each one to see the correction. None of these change the main message, but they matter if you're trying to figure out what you'll actually earn.
The badge over "OCI AI Foundations Associate" says "Professional"Flyer: an "Oracle Certified Professional" badge sits above the AI Foundations Associate.
Actually: AI Foundations is an Associate-level (Foundations) certification. Oracle's Professional level is a separate, more advanced tier, and those exams are not free. Don't expect a Professional credential from this one.
The Agentic AI badge is an old 2020 database badgeFlyer: a "Specialist — Oracle Database Cloud Service, 2020" badge sits above Agentic AI Foundations.
Actually: that badge is from an unrelated, six-year-old database specialist credential. Agentic AI Foundations is brand new for 2026 and has nothing to do with it.
"Foundations" means more than the certs shownFlyer: "Foundations and OCI Architect Associate are free."
Actually: that's right, and it's broader than the flyer shows. Every Foundations-level course and certification is free, including the database and multicloud Foundations tracks, not just the three Foundations certs pictured.
"Professional-level training and exams require paid access"Flyer: Professional-level training and exams generally require paid access.
Actually: Professional exams do carry a fee. But Oracle has long kept much of its learning-path content on MyLearn free to study, so check the specific path before you assume you'll pay for the training itself.

The concepts transfer, the exam costs nothing, and "multicloud" is showing up on more job postings every month. If you're new to cloud, start with Foundations and don't skip it. It makes the Architect material far easier.
Get startedHow to sign up, step by step
- Go to Oracle MyLearn at mylearn.oracle.com and sign in with a free Oracle account (or create one).
- Search for the learning path by name, for example "OCI Foundations Associate," and enroll. Make sure you pick the current 2026 version, since older versions are retired.
- Work through the path. Oracle's videos and skill checks are self-paced. Spin up an Oracle Cloud free-tier account and build a network and an instance while you study. It makes the diagrams click.
- Schedule the exam from the same learning path when you're ready. For the free certifications, the exam attempt is included.
- Add the badge to LinkedIn once you pass. If you want help with that, our free LinkedIn Optimization tool walks you through it.
Military and spouses: because these exams are free, save your Army CA, AF COOL or MyCAA dollars for the paid certifications that come next, like CompTIA Cloud+, Security+ or a Cisco track. See all of your options on our funding page.
