The whole idea, at a glance

Textbooks explain things. Cheat sheets help you remember them. When you're staring at a subnetting question with the clock running, or trying to recall which BGP attribute wins before local preference, you don't need another 40-page chapter. You need the answer laid out the way an instructor would draw it on the whiteboard. That's what these are.

Free. No catch.

What's inside

The sheets in the library

Every sheet is built in the same style: clean tables, worked examples, and the "gotchas" that show up on exam day. Here's what you'll find.

Subnetting and Summarization

The hosts-per-subnet and number-of-subnets formulas with worked examples, plus how to summarize routes cleanly.

Number Conversion and Mask Notation

Binary, decimal and hex side by side, the power-of-two scale, the nine mask octet values, and every prefix from /0 to /32.

STP Election, Step by Step

Watch 802.1D elect the root bridge, root ports and designated ports across four switches, tie-breakers included.

Dynamic Routing Protocols

RIP, EIGRP, OSPF, IS-IS and BGP compared on one page: protocol families, metrics, administrative distance and timers.

EIGRP for IPv4 and IPv6

DUAL, hello and hold timers, multicast addresses, and the composite metric worked out the way the router does it.

OSPFv2 and OSPFv3

The IPv4 and IPv6 versions of OSPF compared side by side, so you know exactly what changed.

BGP Attributes and Best Path

How attributes ride in an UPDATE, the four attribute categories, and all 13 best-path steps in order.

Distribute Lists and Prefix Lists

Exactly what a prefix list matches, how ge and le really work, and where a distribute list attaches in each protocol.

CCNA Command Reference

The Cisco IOS commands you use across the CCNA, gathered on one reference you can keep beside the keyboard.

A quick taste

Five things the sheets make stick

Here's a sample of what's on the sheets. If any of these made you pause, the sheet it came from is worth a download.

The factFrom the sheet
A mask octet can only ever be one of nine values: 0, 128, 192, 224, 240, 248, 252, 254 or 255.Number Conversion and Mask Notation
Hosts per subnet = 2h − 2, where h is the number of 0 bits in the mask. A /22 gives you 1,022.Subnetting and Summarization
EIGRP's administrative distance is 90 internal, 170 external and 5 for a summary route.EIGRP for IPv4 and IPv6
BGP checks weight first, then local preference. Weight is Cisco-only and never leaves the router.BGP Attributes and Best Path
In a prefix list, 10.0.0.0/8 le 32 matches every route inside 10.0.0.0/8, not just the /8 itself.Distribute Lists and Prefix Lists

Request a cheat sheet

Don't see the topic you're stuck on? Tell us. There's a request form right on the library page. Our instructors build new sheets from those requests, the most-requested topics go first, and we'll email you the moment yours is published. VLANs and trunking, IPv6 address types, wireless, security, automation: if you're studying it, ask for it.
